Three
weeks later after I arrived in New York City, I was invited to visit Rockefeller
family's residence in Manhattan. My friend Pastor Anderson had a friend
who had worked as personal secretary of Rockefeller family for over thirty
years. Her name is Ruth. When she knew that a Chinese friend of Anderson's
were visiting in New York, she invited me on August 4, 1997.

We
had lunch together in the Rockefeller residence. Ruth showed me around
afterwards. It was a magnificent place with all kinds of treasures. Paintings,
sculptures and china filled the rooms with beauty and elegance. It felt
like I was visiting a private museum. Surprisingly, I met a Chinese woman
there who was from Shanghai and worked there as a laundry lady. Her name
was Lindy. She was in her 50's. Her mother used to work there as the laundry
lady. When she retired, Lindy inherited her mother's job. Lindy was surprised
to see me just as I was to see her. I guess none of us expected to see
another Chinese face in this residence.
